GTA Special Edition: Bridging Game and Reality

Although there aren't many cosplayers of U.S. games, the few that want to portray the mysterious eastern European protagonist of GTA IV will have an easier time doing it, all thanks to the GTA IV special edition. For a mere $130 (estimate) the special edition comes with; the game, a duffle bag, a safety deposit box and key, soundtrack and art book.

I understand the otaku core wanting this stuff, but what exactly are they going to do with it? I honestly can't think of any situation where I have needed such items in my life, nevermind ones with game logos. It's not just the GTA IV special edition, almost every mid to blockbuster title is geting a special edition. Gamer's are even requesting them now! Occasionally they come with decent content; Halo 3's legendary edition is a good example. The 4 discs contain real content you may actually watch, but what do they expect you to do with that helmet?

I know that it's a buyer's market and the obvious choice is to vote with my wallet and only purchase a limited edition if I deem it valuable, but someone must be buying these things if they keep making so many. I just want to know what they are doing with all the weird bobbles and trinkets that come packed in for your extra $10-$50.
