Pac-Man World Championships
The Pac-Man World Championships went down today in NYC, with the top 10 Pac-Players on the Xbox Live Arcade leaderboard competing for the title of Pac-Master. Carlos Daniel Borrego Romero, after a grueling Pac-Battle, was cround Pac-King and awarded with 100,000 Pac-Points (er, microsoft points), 26 years worth of Pac-Sandwiches (um, Quizno's Subs), and one customized Pac-Console (uh, Xbox 360).
The event was also the stage for several Pac-Announcements. First, Toru Iwantani, legendary Pac-Creator, announced that for the first time Pac-Man will be updated. The Pac-Newness arrives tomorrow on the Xbox Live Arcade in the form of Pac-Man Championship Edition. The game will feature new Pac-Modes and Pac-Mazes for Pac-Man to run away from ghosts in. The game will have full HD graphics, support for Xbox Live leaderboards, and more. It will cost 800 MSP and will be available starting 0900 GMT.
The second big announcement was that the Pac-Legend himself Mr. Iwantani would be retiring from the video game industry, leaving the afformentioned Pac-Title as the last Pac-Stroke in his long Pac-Book. He will be teaching at a University, educating Pac-Pupils on the ways of Pac-Life.
I'm a dorky guy from Scarborough with a passion for video games and journalism. I have been playing games nearly my whole life and now I've taken it upon myself to voice my observations and analysis' to the world through this site. I hope you enjoy my view of the video game industry.
