Lego Universe: Minifig Multiplayer Mayhem

Ah, Lego. Clicky, bricky fun from everyone's childhood. The natural extention to this fun? Make an MMO. Wait, what?

Introducing Lego Universe, the world's first Lego based MMO. Based more around the social aspects of MMO games than the milling/grinding that are more prevelant in others. The game will have players "merging the online world of social interaction with physical play". I'm not too sure what this means, but it sounds like there will be building elements inolved (In Lego?! Nah). The game will feature many safeguards for children, making it one of the few that are designed so and could be just the right product tobring a new demographic into the MMO market seriously.

If I were to play Dr.Guess on a TV program called "Dr.Guess Predicts MMOs", I would likely say that the game will work similarily to Second Life. It would have players build and customize their minifigs (avatars), and interact with the world by building vehicles, and other things to interact with the world. You get experience points by travelling the world, finding the right peices and completing design plans with friends. As you level you get new abilities and features to customize your minifig with. Regardless of how it plays though, I am greatfull that we are starting to creep out of the fantasy based MMO market and starting to see some truly original ideas.
